The Waterfall, June 1998

Situated about 6 miles west of the centre of Birmingham is the Waterfall. It's also about ten minutes walk from the centre of Blackheath and five minutes uphill walk from Old Hill station on the Birmingham to Stourbridge line. It's a busy two-roomed pub full of all sorts of people with lots of beer jugs and old tankards hanging from the ceiling. They've an amazing selection of real ales with lots of local beers always on offer from the Enville, Bathams and Holden's brewery with others from further afield as well as a selection of guest beers as if there wasn't enough choice already.

They do good basic cheap food from filled rolls to cooked main meals at lunchtime and during the evenings. Be warned though, the pub is busy so don't necessarily expect to get a seat at peak times. They have piped music and often have live bands. Children are allowed in the pub too and there's a play area for them in the back garden. There's plenty of outside seating with a couple of picnic tables in front of the pub, several in the sunny back garden and a couple in the shaded courtyard pictured below.
