Steve, Ben, Jonathan and I enjoying a wonderful pint of Hobsons Best, November 2000

Dead easy to find, this popular pub is right by Bromsgrove station, which incidentally is a mile or so south of the town centre. This pub is doing rather well after being saved from closure in the mid-1990's. It's been completely refurbished and the interior now has a very comfortable feel. It's a great place to go for a quiet drink with plenty of pine chairs and sturdy tables to sit at. The beer there is particularly good and they seem to support many of the local brewers of the West Midlands. They sell a good pint of Bathams Best though it was somewhat more expensive than many other pubs in the West Midlands that I've seen it at. They also serve a faultless pint of Hobsons Best (abv 3.8%) a wonderful hoppy beer brewed a few miles away in Cleobury Mortimer.

The pub also serves a good choice of food every day except Sunday and the main dining area is also no-smoking. If you're looking for somewhere to host an event, this could well be your answer as they have 3 rooms available for hire and can cater for over 100 people.

Hmmm, I really must visit Jonathan and Sarah again who live around the corner from this pub. Hopefully the local train company will managed to run the last train back to Birmingham next time too. Fortunately some very kind railway engineers gave me a lift to Barnt Green so that I could catch a connection back to Birmingham. Next time I'm in the Ladybird I shall raise my glass to them!

It was thanks to these chaps that I got home from the Ladybird! November 2000
