The Cock & Bottle, Halkett Place, St. Helier, JERSEY, JE2 4WG [Map]
Certainly a very lively drinking establishment. There's a very large outside drinking area overlooking the historic Royal Square with impressive statue and parliament building to the right of the photo below. They've won numerous awards for their hanging basket displays that really are very impressive if you're a bit of a gardener like myself. It's also just a stones throw from the main shopping street. During summer evenings its certainly not the quietest of places to go for a drink and the pub is often full to overflowing and the square is also one of the main thoroughfares of the town. The pub opened back around 1780 and is currently family run. Its owned by the Jersey Brewery and they had a tasty Channel Islands real ale on offer which I've actually forgotten the name of. Hmmm, might be because we decided to spend the rest of the night dancing and consuming more beverages at 'La Cala' night club! The pub also offers food at lunchtimes and during the evening which the locals that I spoke to said was 'very good'. Inside there's seating on different levels though when we visited the pub all seats were taken, as was most of the standing room.
