During my anonymous visit(s) all guide entries will have met the following minimum requirements:

» I have made a personal visit
» well-kept real ale
» polite, helpful staff
» a friendly, welcoming atmosphere
» good value for money for the area

Many entries also serve excellent food, have wonderful gardens, friendly cats and many other qualities that have made my visit memorable. All have given me the overwhelming feeling when I leave that I'd like to return again someday......

'Great British Pubs' are regretfully like the 'Great British Weather' and can change very quickly. Many lose their local following, close, or fall into the hands of huge pub companies that rip out their interiors and character. Any guide entry that subsequently fails any of the above criteria will be removed immediately. Please note that no money is accepted by me for entry in this guide and inclusion or subsequent removal is solely my decision.
