Railwaymans Arms, Bridgnorth, Railway Stn, BRIDGNORTH, WV16 5DT [Map]
A real beer drinkers pub that is situated on the platform of Bridgnorth station, the northern terminus of the preserved Severn Valley Railway just off the Hollybush Road. It can get busy when the steam trains are operating, especially during summer weekends. Lots of real ale on offer with guest beers usually from nearby breweries. You'll usually find Hobsons Best Bitter (abv 3.8%) on tap, a personal favourite, a pale wonderfully hoppy beer. You almost step back in time about 50 years when you enter the pub. There's lots of railway memorabilia on the walls including old station signs from around the country. There's a good coal fire that they light in the winter months. The clientele has a clear bias towards the male train enthusiast though I've seen allsorts in the bar and when the steam trains are running it always seems to be busy. They do do food in the form of simple snacks. Oh yes, and if you park in the station car park, they will refund the ticket against whatever you spend in the bar!
